RIFLE. Cal. 45-75. S# 8062. Bbl. octagon to round, shortened to 22 1/4". Rocky mountain front sight w/ graduated leaf rear sight. Button mag. Blue finished bbl. w/ case colored action. Standard length forearm & straight grip stock of XX fancy grade walnut w/ factory checkering & steel shotgun buttplate. Left inside of lower tang is marked w/ XX wood grade, followed by assembly number 551. Top tang channel of stock has matching assembly number. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Cody Firearms Museum records check detailing the following information, "Serial number application date not available / Type: Rifle / Barrel Type: Octagon / Trigger: Plain / Checkered stock / Casehardened / Shotgun stock / Lid / Received in warehouse on February 06, 1879 / Shipped from warehouse on February 06, 1879, Order number 14446". CONDITION: bbl. retains 50% dull fading blue showing edge wear & spots of light corrosion. Action has largely faded to gray/brown showing traces of case colors. Stocks have added finish over dents, scratches & marks w/ moderately worn checkering. Stock has a repaired chip left of top tang.
